    Working principle

    The photoionization detector provides ionization energy via a high-energy ultraviolet lamp.
    When the volatile organic compounds  (VOCs) with an ionization potential  (IP) less than the energy of the ultraviolet lamp passes through the ionization cavity, the ultraviolet light source (UV) of the PID will break the compound into detectable positive and negative ions (that is , the ionization process) . The detector measures the ionized gas charge and converts it into a current signal , which is then amplified and converted into a concentration value . Upon the detection , the ions recombine into the original gas and vapor.
